Liguabue exhibition. Another world – Asiago
28 May-1 November 2022. Over 70 works including paintings, drawings, sculptures.

From May 28th to November 1st 2022 Rovereto hosts the exhibition “Liguabue. Another world“, dedicated to one of the most important Italian artists of the twentieth century.
“Liguabue. Another world” exhibits over 70 works including paintings, drawings and sculptures, including” Mountain pasture “of 1928,” Leopard with skull “of 1933,” Diligenze con castello “of 1952,” Tiger attacked by the snake “of 1953, “Self-portrait” of 1954.
The exhibition is divided into the three canonical periods of the author’s artistic production: from domestic animals of the early years, to tigers with wide open jaws, monstrous lions, snakes, birds of prey that seize prey or fight for survival, the nature painted by Ligabue is the theater of relentless violence where forests, plains, fields and the barns themselves are places of fighting of all kinds.
Also present are some self-portraits, in which Ligabue paints his own existential pain, shouting it with the urgency of an intense and feral sensitivity; it is the torment of a soul that, thanks to painting, finds its own voice and redemption.
The venue that hosts the exhibition is interesting itself as it is the Prisons Museum (Museo delle Carceri) in Asiago, built from the renovation of the old prisons,
