Tuscany is the northernmost region of Central Italy.<\/strong> It is bordered by Liguria, Emilia Romagna, Marche, Umbria, Lazio and by the Tyrrhenian Sea to the east.
\nFlorence<\/strong> is the Region Capital, while the other provinces are Arezzo, Grosseto, Livorno, Lucca, Massa-Carrara, Pisa, Pistoia, Prato<\/strong> and Siena<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Tuscany is often defined as “an epitome of Italy”. It recalls very well the Italian lifestyle: art, history, nature, scenery, good wine and good food, seaside and holidays, mountains and forests<\/strong>, and, furthermore, Italian language spoken at its very best.<\/p>\n

Each Tuscan city is famous for “something” that makes it unique.<\/p>\n

Florence<\/strong> has been European Capital of Culture in 1986.<\/strong>
\nIt is one of the most visited cities by tourists from all around the world, it is a UNESCO<\/strong> site and it’s considered the cradle of the Renaissance. It is concentrate of art: the Duomo<\/em><\/strong>, Santa Croce Church<\/strong>, Uffizi museum<\/strong>, house of the Birth of Venus<\/strong> and Primavera<\/strong> by Botticelli,<\/strong> the Accademia Gallery, house of Michelangelo’s David,<\/strong> Ponte Vecchio<\/strong>, Piazza della Signoria<\/strong>, Palazzo Pitti<\/strong> are just some of the well-known symbols of Florence in the world.<\/p>\n

Pisa<\/strong> is the city of the Leaning Tower <\/strong>and Miracle Square<\/strong> (named by Gabriele D’Annunzio). Starting from Pisa<\/strong> you can reach Volterra,<\/strong> famous for alabaster<\/strong> and the Guarnacci Museum<\/strong>, which houses one of the best collections of Etruscan manufacts in Italy.<\/p>\n

The beautiful Siena,<\/strong> with its brick buildings, has been Italian Capital of Culture in 2015.<\/strong> Its heart is Piazza del Campo,<\/strong> dominated by Torre del Mangia. <\/strong>Siena is diveded into 17 districts<\/strong> (contrade) <\/em>that compete twice a year in the famous Palio.<\/strong><\/p>\n

San Gimignano<\/strong>, it’s a medieval village considered a UNESCO World Heritage’s site.
\nPienza<\/strong> was “invented” by Pope Pius II and it’s considered the finest example of rational urban design of the Renaissance.<\/p>\n

Grosseto<\/strong> is the city of the Argentario,<\/strong> with the well-known villages Porto Ercole<\/strong> and Porto S. Stefano<\/strong>, very appreciated by Hollywood stars, and Capalbio, Ansedonia<\/strong> and Orbetello<\/strong> with its spectacular lagoon, that is part of a natural reserve.<\/p>\n

From Arezzo,<\/strong> birthplace of the painter Giorgio Vasari<\/strong> and house of many of its works, is easy to reach the charming Cortona,<\/strong> built by the Etruscans, which today is a very active cultural center.<\/p>\n

Prato<\/strong> is so famous for textiles, that it hosts the Textile Museum<\/a><\/strong>, the largest museum in Italy dedicated to ancient and modern textile production.<\/p>\n

Pistoia<\/strong> has been Italian Capital of Culture in 2017.<\/strong><\/p>\n
