Sicilian people<\/strong> are very fond of their land and history. This is the reason why in Sicily most of events are connected to their habits, customs and religious traditions.<\/strong> And to their delicious regional cuisine, of course!<\/p>\n

Saint Rosalia’s Feast<\/strong><\/a> in Palermo is the most popular religious event as it has been taking place for 384 year, as long as Saint Agata’s Feast<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0in Catania ends in a huge procession with 11 “Cannalori” <\/em>(votive candles) which represent art and craft corporations and Saint Joseph Feast<\/strong><\/a> in Valguarnera Caropepe every 19 March.<\/p>\n

Among the oldest and most folkloristic events<\/strong> of Sicily the Sciacca Carnival<\/a><\/strong>, the Carnival in Acireale<\/strong><\/a> and Francavilla di Sicilia Carnival<\/strong>, near Messina,\u00a0is one of the most ancient and folkloristic events: it is celebrated with a typical ballad, the\u00a0“Fasuledda<\/i>“.<\/p>\n

Among the Christmas events<\/strong> there are the Living Nativity Scene<\/strong><\/a> in Ispica and the Eighteenth-century Nativity Scene<\/strong><\/a> in Acireale.<\/p>\n

Noto<\/strong> is famous for the Infiorata<\/strong><\/a>, a three-day festival where artists use flowers and petals to set up colorful and fragrant decorations and carpets in Via Nicolati, in the center of the city, declared a UNESCO heritage site.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Among the food events<\/strong>, more recent but alread ypopular the Cous Cous Festival<\/strong><\/a> (September) in San Vito Lo Capo near Trapani. Lots of mediterranean countries take part to this important festival and in Modica there is the Chocolate Museum<\/strong><\/a> to get to know an IGP chocolate of ancient origins.
\nGourmands may be satisfied with the Pistachio festival <\/strong>(Bronte, Catania) taking place at the end of september, and the Cannolo festival<\/strong> in Piana degli Albanesi near Palermo.<\/p>\n

Sicily<\/strong> is a land of many typical wines such as Marsala, Passito and Etna. Duca di Salaparuta Wine Cellars in Casteldaccia, in the province of Palermo and Florio Wine Cellars in Marsala offer guided tours and tastings all year round.<\/p>\n
