Cherry Festival – Raiano
On the weekend of 7-9 June, in the province of L’Aquila.

On the first weekend of June (this year on from Friday, June 7 to Sunday, June 9, 2019) a rich program of events animates the streets of Raiano, a small village in the province of L’Aquila, for the Cherry Festival – also known as “Maggiolata“.
The event was first organized in 1946, on the same day of Saint Venanzio’s Day, the village’s protector.
In 1950, it became an autonomous recurrence. Every year, the festival is enriched with parades of allegorical wagons, exhibitions of traditional customs, dances and choirs, all celebrating cherries, the fruit symbol of Raiano.
The Cherry Festival ends with the wagons’ parade, which includes a little wagon for kids.
