Tortél Dóls Festival – Colorno
On Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 October 2017, a cultural and culinary event dedicated to the traditional dish of the Province of Parma
On the first weekend of October, this year on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 October 2017, the main square of Colorno (Parma) hosts a culinary and cultural event organized by Confraternita del Tortél Dóls, now in its 10th edition.
On this occasion, visitors can taste the typical dish from this town, the Tortél Dóls, a kind of ravioli with a bittersweet stuffing. Food, special guests and more than 100 exhibitors.
According to tradition, the origin of Tortél Dóls goes back to the times of the Empress Marie-Louise of France, Duchess of Parma and Napoleon’s second wife. The Duchess used to offer the boatmen of Sacca di Colorno a plate of tortelli with a bittersweet stuffing, hence the name “Tortél Dóls”, sweet tortello.
The actual recipes, kept by Confraternita del Tortél Dòls, includes the following ingredients: bread crumbs, must and mostarda.
During the festival, founded in 2008, it is possible to taste the real Tortél Dóls, prepared according the original recipes of the Confraternita.
One of the most anticipated events of the festival is Gara delle Rezdòre, a competition among housewives (rezdòre) from 5 town of the Parma province: Mezzani, Sissa, Torrile, Trecasali, and Colorno.
In addition, the participation of great chefs and journalists and several events with artists, cooks and students.
