The Assisi-Spoleto-Norcia Cycle Path is an almost completely flat route that connects the most suggestive Umbrian cities.

The cycle path is about 105 kilometers long and is divided into two main stages.

The first stage connects Assisi, the city of Saint Francis, to Spoleto, famous for the coexistence of artistic styles ranging from early Christian to contemporary.
The path follows the banks of the Marroggia, Beverone, Timia streams and the Topino river. It also crosses the villages of Cannara, Bevagna, Campello sul Clitunno and its UNESCO heritage temple, Montefalco and Castel Ritaldi.
The first 23 kilometers, between Assisi and Bevagna, develop downhill and flat mostly on secondary roads with almost always asphalted surfaces. The 38 kilometers of the foot and cycle path that runs along the banks of the Teverone and Maroggia rivers are mostly on their own with very low traffic until the center of Spoleto.

A second way almost parallel to the path, with a detour of about 10 kilometers, crosses Foligno, the famous city of Quintana, which takes place over two days, the “Challenge” and the “Rematch”, and the villages of Spello and Trevi.

The second stage runs along the path of the former Spoleto-Norcia railway, a real Alpine railway climbing the mountain with 19 tunnels, 24 bridges, viaducts and intricate paths with small slopes.
Inaugurated in 1926, the 51 km long railway line remained operational until 1968 when the last train departed. The evocative route, immersed in an enchanting natural setting, has been converted into a greenway that can be used by walkers and cyclists. The path is divided into four main sections.
Following this way, visitors pass from the Umbrian valley to the Valnerina, passing through the villages of Sant’Anatolia di Narco, Borgo Cerreto or Serravalle, up to Norcia.

In 2015 the Assisi-Spoleto-Norcia cycle path also received the Italian Green Road Award at the Cosmo Bike Show.
