From August 24 to September 7, 2025, the 49th edition of the horse race Palio dei 10 Comuni (“Palio of the 10 Municipalities”) takes place in Montagnana, in the province of Padua
August 24th is the start of celebrations with various events also on Saturday 30 and culminate from September 4th to 7th with the Burning City (Saturday) and the Palio (Sunday).
What is the Palio?
The Palio di Montagnana has its origins in a Statute of 1366, and is a horse race in which 10 jockeys compete, each representing one of the 10 municipalities of the Montagnese.
In addition to the Palio, a costume parade, the markets in the streets of the historic center take Montagnana back to the medieval era, and also a medieval dinner with typical dishes of the medieval tradition.
