Events, food, experiences for an unforgettable trip to Italy

Marche – Events

Every year many historical re-enactments in costume take place in the cities and villages of Marche recreating the past: the Medieval Feasts in Offagna, the Palio del Duca Sponsalia in Acquaviva Picena, the Cavalcade of the Assumption in Fermo.

During Christmas time, many villages in Marche become the setting of suggestive live nativity scenes such as the Genga Living Nativity Scene and Le Vie dei Presepi in Urbino.
Urbania, in the province of Pesaro-Urbino, is the Befana’s official home and every January celebrates the National Befana Day.

One of the most original festivals is the Festa del Covo, a religious event held every year on the first Sunday of August in the small village Campocavallo, a hamlet of Osimo (Ancon), where the typical flowers’ carpets called “infiorate” are held for Corpus Domini.

Several music festivals take place in Marche, the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, Gioachino Rossini’s birthplace, the Macerata Opera Festival, and Musicultura, the Festival of popular song singer-writer in Macerata.

There are many food events such as the Ascolive Festival and th Italian Mixed Fried Food in Ascoli Piceno, and the BrodettoFest in Fano.

Among the interesting visits in Marche, there are certainly the Frasassi Caves in Genga, a huge karst cave system open all year round, and the Giacomo Leopardi’s birthplace in Recanati.

Welcome to the region where the painter and architect Raffaello and writer Giacomo Leopardi were born. The region with the town of Urbino, the Sibillini Mountains. Here you can enjoy the tasty fish soup and stuffed ‘ascolane’ olives and much more…
