On Sunday, March 1st, 2026 it takes place in San Martino in Rio, in the Province of Reggio Emilia, the feast of pork food Ciccioli in Piasa (“Ciccioli in the Square”) at its 23rd edition.
At Ciccioli in Piasa (“Ciccioli in the Square”) the best local “norcini” (pork butchers) compete with each other to have their ciccioli elected as the best ones in Emilia Romagna.
In addition to the ciccioli contest, several food stands – the “Cholesterol Spa” – offer plenty of tasty local delicacies, such as gnocco fritto, polenta, porchetta, mulled wine, hot chocolate, and many more. Plus, a market with over 100 stalls sells the best local craft and gastronomy products.
Ciccioli in Piasa’s program also includes cultural events: tours of the Rocca Estense, opening of the Museum of Agriculture.
