The biggest permanent exhibit dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci.
Leonardo da Vinci Galleries - Milan - Italy

A permanent exhibition dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519), considered to be the greatest genius of all time is hosted in the Museum of Science and Technology of Milan.

The exhibition brings Leonardo’s life and his scientific and creative thinking back to life in an engaging and fascinating emotional experience.

Visitors can discover Leonardo da Vinci’s training, his studies on the human body, his works of art, engineering works (he improved the Navigli canals system in Milan), war machines, spinning wheels, ideas and projects of the “flying machines”, on a route between the art of war, work, creation and architecture…

The 1300 square meter exhibit 170 works of art, historical models, tracing, frescos, paintings, antique volumes. The exhibition comes along with a spectacular setting of 39 multimedia installations

The figure of Leonardo is also related to his historical context by comparing his work as an engineer and humanist to the history of science, art, technology and Renaissance thought. The exhibit also emphasizes Leonardo’s curiosity and his ability to observe and interpret nature, along with the attention paid to his contemporaries’ works which he had always been in dialogue.

The exhibit ends with a look at Leonardo da Vinci’s influence on the Renaissance painting in Lombardy and an immersive installation dedicated to more recent drawings.

A statue of Leonardo da Vinci is located in Piazza della Scala right in front of Teatro alla Scala, the opera temple.
But, with no doubt, Leonardo’s most famous work in Milan is the Last Supper in the refectory of the former convent next to the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie.
